During the visit, the memorandum of understanding is signed between Georg August University Goettingen and Gulistan State University within the framework of the project “Modernization of Higher Education” of the World Bank’s Academic Innovation Fund.

According to the memorandum The Goettingen State and University-Library, Georg August University Goettingen, and the Gulistan State University, in their common desire to develop academic exchanges and cooperation between the two institutions concerning research on Central Asian Studies, agree to the following:

• To cooperate on the online platform “Digital Library of Central Asia” which will be hosted by Gulistan State University to increase access to archives and unique historical material and to offer a forum for scientists in Central Asian Studies. The proposed Digital Library is also part of the program to develop Higher Education in Central Asia. Gulistan State University will apply for funding for this project separately.
• To prepare, if necessary, additional working programs for the purpose of conducting joint research in the field of Central Asian Studies.
• To cooperate within the subproject “Cluster Approach in Developing Integration of Higher Education and Production: organizing an “Educational-scientific complex” in the integrated system of Production and Gulistan State University” within the funding by the Project “Modernization of Higher Education” of the World Bank. The funding for this project has been granted to Gulistan State University.
